Many may have been skeptical at first, but the reality of it is quite simple: Tim Tebow is playing baseball.

The former NFL quarterback recently signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets, a result of his August 23 workout for 28 MLB teams.

For some old teammates on the Jets, it’s unique to see a teammate not just suiting up for a different team, but for another sport.

“If that’s what he wants to do, that’s on him,” Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis said, according to NJ.com. “We were teammates a few years ago. He’s a good guy. I didn’t even know he played baseball in high school. Some club wanted his service. It’s good to have him back in New York.”

Before making the decision to resume his athletic career, Tebow served as an analyst for college football, but Jets’ wide receiver Eric Decker understands why Tebow decided to give baseball a try.

“I think he’s got a good gig right now with SEC Network [as a college football analyst], and I’m sure he could do a daily talk show if he wanted,” Decker said in another NJ.com article. “But I think it’s just him being competitive and wanting to just get that fire again.”
